A New Game to Play
Somewhere in the mid to late 90s I was taught how to play a party game called Mafia. For those not familiar with it, basically people are secretly and randomly assigned roles, everyone closes their eyes, actions are decided, people open their eyes, someone “dies” then accusations start flying. Yeah, that was probably the worst summary ever – check out wiki if that explanation didnt do it for you.The best part of the game was the accusations. One person would say that they heard someone move, another would suggest a smile, a lack of eye contact, too much eye contact, making too many accusations, not making enough, breathing the wrong way…. ARGH!! It was a lot of fun, until everyone worked out that I was pretty good at it and killed me off as soon as they could. Which in turn would lead to “he hasn’t been killed yet, so it must be him… or maybe the killer…..”
Two shields or not two shields… that is the question.
Last year while at Comic Con 2011, I had a chance to check out Guild Wars 2 first hand and play a little bit of the Guardian. I tried a few different weapon combinations but the staff and its defensive style really caught my attention. This got me thinking… what else could you use in a defensive manner? Well… a shield is a given, so… what about two shields!?
A Casual Gamer’s Perspective on Microtransactions
I woke this morning to find that indeed the sky was falling. Branches of the Guild Wars 2 community had drifted into anarchy as all rationality flew out the window and again we signalled the end of the world. Of course, the fears of “pay to win” are understandable. I wouldn’t want to play a game that rewards those with the most disposable income. My kids would probably start complaining about 2 minute noodles, mind you, they would save cooking time. Hmmm… less cooking time…Microtransactions – a little more info
A little over a month ago I wrote a blog speculating on what microtransactions ArenaNet might include. Today, on the official blog, ArenaNet posted some more information on their microtransactions without actually giving details on what might be purchased. So what does their announcement mean? How are my previous guesses holding up in light of this new information?Welcome To Our New Digs!
